Barney Allis Plaza is located in the heart of downtown Kansas City and nestled under the city’s breathtaking skyline across the street from Municipal Auditorium and the Convention & Entertainment Facilities. Visitors and locals enjoy the tree-lined urban park with fountains, sculptures, seating areas and tennis court – a unique green outdoor reception, festival and activity area.
Below the park is the Auditorium Plaza Garage, an underground 1,000 vehicle parking facility. Well-lit tunnels with colorful directional signage connect the garage to the Convention Facilities, as well as nearby hotels. Enter the garage from Wyandotte Street or Central Street between 12th and 13th streets.
Barney Allis Plaza is only available for event rental through Fall of 2019.

Octagon shaped in a gleaming marble facade, the Little Theatre features an exterior charming promenade, balcony and a permanent stage area. The balcony overlooks the main floor on five sides. Lighted alcoves provide a sheltered setting for beverage service. Theater seating for up to 400 people and banquet seating for 220.
One of four self-contained venues in the Municipal Auditorium, the Little Theatre has its own entrance on the south side of 13th Street with a lighted marquee, lobby, box office, coat-check and restrooms. Visitors may also enter through the Municipal Auditorium Grand Foyer or from the Auditorium Plaza Garage by way of a beautiful underground walkway.
The LEX, the Lower Exhibition Hall, located inside of Municipal Auditorium, has 46,000 square feet of space on two levels for exhibitors, catered functions and special events.
The LEX has 28,000 gross square feet; 22,000 net square feet; one men’s restroom; one women’s restroom; two family restrooms; lobby entrance; load from street entrance; box office; handicap accessibility; event storage; exhibit lighting; marquee; 23′ ceiling height; access to power and water and multiple rigging points.
The mezzanine level has 18,000 gross square feet; 12,000 net square feet; two men’s restrooms; two women’s restrooms; eight family restrooms; lobby entrance; two street entrances; two ticket windows; handicap accessibility; fire sprinklers; computer controlled HVAC; computer controlled lighting; 10′ 6″ ceiling height and access to power and water.

The 40,500-square-foot Kay Barnes Grand Ballroom is expandable to 46,400 square feet for events up to 4,000 people. Its unique interior design celebrates the city’s history with water and features a controllable natural lighting system and a glass wall offering dramatic views to the south of the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts.
The Kay Barnes Grand Ballroom opens to an outdoor plaza at the southeast corner of the Convention Center complex. Being connected to the existing Conference Center, it can accommodate additional breakout rooms.
Loews Catering is the exclusive provider of catering, alcohol service and concessions for the Conference Center effective spring of 2020. Loews Catering exclusive catering privileges are inclusive of the Grand Ballroom/2501, South Plaza, meeting rooms 1500, 2500 and 3500 and adjacent pre-function spaces.
